| English Excel | Spanish Excel | |
|---|---|---|
| Function name | LEN | LARGO |
| Syntax | =LEN(text) | =LARGO(text) |
| Example | =LEN(A1) | =LARGO(A1) |

What LEN does
Counts the characters in a text. Example: Returns the number of characters in A1.
Semicolons, commas and decimals
Spanish versions of Excel separate arguments with a semicolon or a comma depending on the regional settings of the computer. With semicolons, decimals are written with a comma (3,14). With commas, decimals use a point (3.14). FormulaCheck converts both.
A common mistake
Spaces are counted too. Use TRIM first if lengths look wrong.
