OR in English and Spanish
| English Excel | Spanish Excel | |
|---|---|---|
| Function name | OR | O |
| Syntax | =OR(logical1, [logical2], ...) | =O(logical1; [logical2]; ...) |
| Example | =OR(A1="Yes",B1="Yes") | =O(A1="Yes";B1="Yes") |
Argument names are shown in English for reference. Spanish examples use the semicolon setting.
What OR does
Returns TRUE when at least one condition is true. Example: True when A1 or B1 is Yes.
Semicolons, commas and decimals
Spanish versions of Excel separate arguments with a semicolon or a comma depending on the regional settings of the computer. With semicolons, decimals are written with a comma (3,14). With commas, decimals use a point (3.14). FormulaCheck converts both.
A common mistake
Write each condition in full. OR(A1="Yes","No") does not compare A1 to two values.
